Klep - "Frequencies (Ft. Stray)" single review by Alicks Wargood

Straight off of presses at the locally notorious (yet comfy as a mitten) Shattered Dreams Studio in Hillsdale, MI is a single by one of the co-owners of SDE himself, Klep Amphetamine. His flow is as fine tuned as it gets and his delivery never ceases to amaze his audience. From the stage to the screen him and his other half Saint Sinna conplete the dynamic duo, Bio Killaz. A wrenched tight (horrorcore adjacent) rap group who's unearthly talent, taking an (often violent) gander at the seedy underbelly of society, is unmatched on many levels.

But we are here to talk about Klep himself for a moment. In 2022 Klep released a solo album titled "Man Of Steal". A masterpiece of an album with notable songs such as "When Boy?" "Jetpack - ft. Saint Sinna & Majik Duce", and "Fortress Of Solitude". From front to back this album is a banger. He has a special way of being able to make a song haunting and mysterious while simultaneously preaching about unity and a selfless way of thinking that I truly appreciate. The single "Frequencies" perfectly displays that.

Frequencies starts off with a spooky piano line that sounds almost like a ghostly performance in a big empty house. The radio waves "tuning" underneath give the keys a soft spot to lay and the echoey taps add to the haunt (almost symphonically) in some creepy basement ghoul sort of way. It's all leveled very quietly and then kicks straight into the chorus.

The chorus to this song is classic Klep. Embracing the fact that the world is full of problems but if we unify we can overcome anything. A reoccurring message in many of his compositions with Bio Killaz and his solo work alike.

The verse kicks in with a powerful take on the state of our planet and the fact that everyone suffers from mental illness probably due to the fact that our habitat, economy, and all around society as a whole unit could very well be to blame. However, in the traditional Klep fashion, that gripped me from day 1, it quickly flips the script promoting connectivity with people as a very certain solution to the madness. He is absolutely correct that "if I inspire you and you inspire me both you and I can reach a higher peak". With a nod at the fact that we are all equals just doing our best to survive his verse signs off and blends right back into the chorus speaking the same language.

This song features local New Haven, CT singer, rapper, and songwriter Stray. He brings a secondary element to "Frequencies'. A "look at the other side of the fence" sort of energy that off sets from Klep's while still seemingly staying on point. To me, personally, it seems to be the other side of the coin where if unity can't be achieved then next in line is a man ready for a moral war. The verse seems to basically and plainly state that though we all need unity in this crazy world that there are rabid dogs, frothing at the mouth, in all of us that are held at bay until it's time to attack the powers that be. I think we can all relate to that on some level.

One final chorus leads us into the end of this saga. It fades into a gentle silence plain and simple. Gone just as quickly as it was came leaving your finger searching for the repeat button.

Stray is also the front man for (CT) local band "Sky Swamp Orange." A prolific east coast rock band with hip hop elements. Be sure to see what they're all about as well.

That draws me to my final conclusion here... that Klep has done it again. We here at Dosed are very excited for the arrival and release of his next solo album. If this song is anything to speak for it then we firmly believe that it will fill the giant foorprints that "Man Of Steal" left behind.
