Snakehandler Church - "Top Notch Heavy Rock" album review by Alicks Wargood

From Indiana's "City Of Churches" (Ft. Wayne) rises a band with its very own satirical jab at spreading "the good word" from all of your favorite patron saints such as Macho Man Randy Savage, "Superstar" Billy Graham, The Ultimate Warrior, and other memorable professional wrestlers of the early days. You may have seen them at The Angry Inch, The Pearl Necklace, Zero Ground Music Festival, or the absolutely astounding Dawn Theater. No matter the venue Snakehandler Church has proven to bring a captivating experience every single time.    We reached out to Johnny Saltine & The Pepper Boys recently for permission to do a story on their latest album "Top Notch Heavy Rock" released in April 2024. TNHR was recorded in the fall of 2023 at Chipped Tooth Audio with the final touches placed by Paul Bennet and special cover art done by (Cavalcades own) Craig Horky. With every element of Snakehandler's special brand of rock & roll at the ...

Klep - "Frequencies (Ft. Stray)" single review by Alicks Wargood

Straight off of presses at the locally notorious (yet comfy as a mitten) Shattered Dreams Studio in Hillsdale, MI is a single by one of the co-owners of SDE himself, Klep Amphetamine. His flow is as fine tuned as it gets and his delivery never ceases to amaze his audience. From the stage to the screen him and his other half Saint Sinna conplete the dynamic duo, Bio Killaz. A wrenched tight (horrorcore adjacent) rap group who's unearthly talent, taking an (often violent) gander at the seedy underbelly of society, is unmatched on many levels.      But we are here to talk about Klep himself for a moment. In 2022 Klep released a solo album titled "Man Of Steal". A masterpiece of an album with notable songs such as "When Boy?" "Jetpack - ft. Saint Sinna & Majik Duce", and "Fortress Of Solitude". From front to back this album is a banger. He has a special way of being able to make a song haunting and mysterious while simultaneously preaching...

Cavalcade "Evergreens" album review by Alicks Wargood

-Introduction : We here at Dosed have the absolute pleasure of doing our first album review for an in-house favorite band. In June (2024) we had the privilege of hosting them at our very own DIY venue "The Pearl Necklace" in Morenci, MI. You may recognize some of these fellas from both legendary Michigan native bands "The Cartridge Family" and, of course, "Genocya". I personally have been following every one of these guys' careers since I was introduced to them by the one and only Heath Latour somewhere around 2006 after my departure from Razorkasket where Heath had taken over my duty as guitar player. He brought an array of out-of-town bands to the area thus solidifying that chapter in Lenawee County local music as the absolute golden age of Lenawee local music. I will be interweaving my perceptions of song meanings as well here and there. They may be way off or spot on. I suppose finding meaning and inspiration in music is always subjective but I h...
